I’m a 33-year-old mother of a 1-year-old baby girl named Kourtney. She is my life. My bipolar disorder is an everyday fight that I must face and I wouldn’t get through the day if it wasn’t for my daughter and waking up to her big smile.
I have very little family support or friends. I was homeless for about a year and a half and I wouldn’t have made it if it wasn’t for Kourtney’s dad being there with me. We have our ups and downs but we always make it through.
I get professional help for my bipolar disorder and take meditations on a daily basis. I just thank God every day that he gave me a second chance to be a mom again. My mother, without my permission, had taken away my oldest from me because of my condition. So, I’m very grateful for Kourtney.

I don’t talk to my family besides my grandparents and one of my aunts. They don’t like Kourtney’s dad but you can’t judge someone you’ve never met. My mom had kicked me out and lied to me. Now, I’m living my life after being given a second chance and I focus on taking care of my angel. Finally, my life is back to normal.
I don’t let what people think or say get to me anymore. To calm myself down, I take long walks, listen to music, play with my angel princess, talk to the few people that I trust in my life and watch TV.
I’m trying to find a great job in order to get a better income. I had applied for SSD but they denied me and then, they denied me again after going to court to apply for it. For now, I will just get a great job and a car so that I don’t have to ride on the bus anymore because they aren’t so safe for children.
